Chapter on the Mentioning of Immorality and Obscenity
The statement of Allah Ta’ala:
وَالَّذِينَ لا يَشْهَدُونَ الزُّورَ وَإِذَا مَرُّوا بِاللَّغْوِ مَرُّوا كِرَاماً
"Those who witness no falsehood, and, if they pass by futility, they pass by it with honorable (avoidance)." (al-Furqan 25/72)
It was narrated from Ibn Mas’ud (radiyallahu anh) as a Marfu report that (Rasulullah said):
ليس المؤمن بطعان، ولا لعان، ولا فاحش، ولا بذيء
"Mu’min (a believer) is not given to abusing others or curse them, nor is immoral or shameless." (Tirmidhi, Hadith no: 1907; Ahmad, Musnad, 1/404) Tirmidhi graded it as Hasan.
It was narrated from Abu’d Dardaa (radiyallahu anh) as a Sahih report that (Rasulullah said):
ما من شيء أثقل في ميزان المؤمن يوم القيامة من حسن الخلق، وإن الله يبغض الفاحش البذيء الذي يتكلم بالفحش
"There will be nothing heavier, which will be put on the believer’s Mizan (the scale) on Yawm’ul Qiyamah than good Akhlaaq (character). And Allah hates the profligate and the obscene, who is loose in speech." (Tirmidhi, Hadith no: 2002; Abu Dawud, Hadith no: 4799; Ahmad, Musnad, 6/446, 6/448, 6/451)
Muslim narrated from Aisha (radiyallahu anha) as a Marfu report that (Rasulullah said):
إن الرفق لا يكون في شيء إلا زانه، ولا يُنْزع من شيء إلا شانه
"Rifq (gentleness) is not introduced into any affair without beautifying it and is not withdrawn from any affair without making it ugly." (Muslim, Hadith no: 2594; Abu Dawud, Hadith no: 2478; Hadith no: 4808; Ahmad, Musnad, 6/58, 6/112, 6/125, 6/171, 6/206, 6/222)
Tirmidhi narrated from Ibn Mas’ud (radiyallahu anh) as a Marfu report by grading it to be Hasan that (Rasulullah said):
ألا أخبركم بمن يحرم على النار، أو تحرم عليه النار؟ تحرم على كل قريب هين لين سهل
"Shall I not inform you of whom Naar is unlawful and he is unlawful for it? Every person who is near (to people), amicable, and easy (to deal with)." (Tirmidhi, Hadith no: 2488; Ahmad, Musnad, 1/415)
Muslim narrated from Jarir (radiyallahu anh) as a Marfu report that (Rasulullah said):
من يحرم الرفق، يحرم الخير كله
"He who is deprived of Rifq is deprived of every Khayr." (Muslim, Hadith no: 2592; Abu Dawud, Hadith no: 4809; Ibn Ma’ajah, Hadith no: 3687; Ahmad, Musnad, 4/362, 4/366)
