Allah Ta'ala has Cursed the one who Lives with the Bedouins after his Hijrah
Shaykh Abdullah bin Abd'il Latif, ad-Durar'us Saniyyah, Babu Jihaad, 8/81

Shaykh Abdullah bin Abd'il Latif said the following in his advice to the people of al-Artawiyyah:

"And Rasulullah (sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam) was informed a man who had migrated, then returned from his Hijrah to live with the Bedouins. So he (sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam) said to him:

"This is Riddatu Saghir (minor apostasy). Whoever does this is cursed, and the who one stays with the Bedouins and perfects his Islam is better than the one who migrated, then turned back from his Hijrah."*

And it has reached me that from the people of al-Artawiyyah are those who migrated and established themselves and now desire to turn back from their Hijrah, moving with the Bedouins. And this is a great disaster, and the one who does so is not safe from falling into apostasy and from being of those who turned backs on their heels after the guidance was made clear to them. So, be warned of this, and be patient. Endure, be watchful and remain firm upon the command of your Lord and do not be of those who have exchanged the blessing of Allah for Kufr.

And I ask Allah to give Tawfiq (success) and Hidayah (guide) me and to you."

* The Hadith in full length reads as:

"Allah has cursed the one who lives with the Bedouins after his Hijrah. Allah has cursed the one who lives with the Bedouins after his Hijrah except in times of Fitnah as living with the Bedouins is better than remaining amongst Fitnah." (Ibnu Hajar al-Haythami, Majmu'uz Zawaid; Tabarani)

There is also Hadith of Ibnu Mas'ud (radiyallahu anh) that he narrated:

"The one who consumes riba, the one who pays riba the one who knowingly writes down the transaction... and the one who turns back as a Bedouin after his Hijrah; all are cursed from the tongue of Muhammad (sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam) until the Day of Resurrection."
(Nasai; Ahmad, Musnad; Ibnu Hudhayma, Sahih; Hakim; Bayhaki, Sunnan; Abdur Razzak, Musannaf; Ibnu Hibban)

The statement al-Murtaddu Arabiyyan (apostate to Bedouin life), as Ibn'ul Athir said is: The one who returns to desert and live with the Bedouins after his immigration. The man who returned to Bedouin life after immigration without excuse was considered an apostate.

Abu Hurayra (radiyallahu anh) reported that:

The great sins are: disbelief in Allah, killing a fellow man without a just cause, devouring usury, eating up the property of orphans unjustly, turning ones back to the Kuffar in a battlefield at the time of fighting, accusing chaste women, and go to back to the Bedouin after ones immigration. (al-Haythami, Majmu'uz Zawaid; al-Bazzar)

Sahl bin Abi Hathamah narrated after his father that he heard Rasulullah (sallalahu alayhi wa sallam) saying:

Avoid the great sins. When Rasulullah (sallalahu alayhi wa sallam) saw that the people kept silent, he went on: Wont you ask me about them? They are to: associate partners in worship with Allah and to turn band live in the desert with Bedouin after the immigration...
(al-Haythami, Majmu az-Zawaid; Tabarani, al-Kabir)

Salamah Ubn'ul Akwa (radiyallahu anh) approached Hajjaj who shouted at him:

You have turned on your heel! And mentioned words that signify: And you went back to live in the desert? Salamah (radiyallahu anh) denied saying: No, but Rasulullah (sallalahu alayhi wa sallam) allowed me to stay with the Bedouin in the desert. (Nasai)

Ibnu Hajar said: "Salamah Ibn'ul Akwa (radiyallahu anh) entered upon Hajjaj and he said to him: Oh Ibn'ul Akwa You have turned back on your heels and become a Bedouin. He said: No, Rasulullah (sallalahu alayhi wa sallam) allowed me to return to the wilderness.

Yazid bin Abu Ubayd said: When Uthman bin Affan (radiyallahu anh) was killed Salamah Ibn'ul Akwa went to the Rabdhah and married a woman there. She gave birth to children for him and he did not cease to remain there until a few nights before he died upon which he went to Madinah.

"You have turned back!.."

It seems that he is referring to the Hadith narrated about this which was mentioned previously in the list of major sins in the Book of Penalties. From amongst those which were mentioned is: "Whoever returns to become a Bedouin after his Hijrah." It was reported by Nasai from the Hadith of Ibnu Mas'ud (radiyallahu anh), in Marfu fashion: "May Allah curse the one who eats interest and gives it," till the end of the Hadith and it contains: "And the one who returns (Murtad) to being a Bedouin after his Hijrah."

Ibn'u'l Athir said in an-Nihayah: "The one who returned after his Hijrah to the place he made Hijrah from, without an excuse, was considered similar to a Murtad!.."

"He said: No!'' Meaning: I did not go to the wilderness to turn back from my Hijrah" (Ibn'ul Hajar, Fath'ul Bari)
Rasulullah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said:

إِنَّ النَّاسَ دَخَلُوا فِي دِينِ اللهِ أَفْوَاجًا، وَسَيَخْرُجُونَ مِنْهُ أَفْوَاجًا

"Verily, the people have entered into the religion of Allah in crowds and they will also leave it in crowds." (Ahmad, Musnad)
