Advice to the Ikhwn Regarding Clinging to Asl'ud Dn1
Shaykh'ul Islm Muhammad bin Abd'il Wahhb Rahimahullh
بِسْمِ اللهِ الرَّحْمنِ الرَّحِيمِ

So by Allh, O Ikhwn (my brothers), cling to Asl'ud Dn (the foundation of your Dn), the first and the last of it, its foundation and its head: the testimony La Ilaha Illallh (that none has the right to be worshiped except Allh).

Know its meaning, love its people and make them your brothers -even if they are far away. And disbelieve in the Tawght (pl. of Tght), have enmity towards them and hate those who love them, Jadal (argue) on their behalf, do not disbelieve in them or say: I have nothing against them or say: Allh has not made me responsible for them. Then verily, they have forged a lie against Allh, since Allh has made them responsible and Fardh (obligated) them to disbelieve in them (i.e., the Tawght) and al-Bar'ah (dissociate) themselves from them, even if they are their brothers or children.

So by Allh o Ikhwn (my brothers), cling to this Asl'ud Dn (the foundation of your Dn) in order that you may meet your Rabb (Lord) without Shirk (associating) anything with (Allh). O Allh cause us to die as Muslims and join us with the righteous.

And we finish our discussion with an yah (verse) mentioned by Allh in His Kitb (Book i.e., Qur'n), which will clarify to you that the Kufr of the Mushrikn of our time is more severe than the Kufr of those whom Raslullh Sallallhu Alayhi wa Sallam fought. Allh Tal (the One free from all imperfections, the Most High) says:

وإذا مسكم الضر في البحر ضل من تدعون إلا إياه
And when harm touches you upon the sea, those that you call upon besides Him vanish from you except Him (Allh Alone). (al-Isr 17/67)

So you have heard that Allh Tal has mentioned that when the Kuffr were in distress they would abandon their leaders and al-Mashyikh (pl. of Shaykh; scholars) do not call upon them and not seek help through them. Rather, they showed sincerity to Allh alone, without associating any partners and Istighthah (sought aid from Him) alone. However when relief and ease came, they would commit Shirk again. You can see that when the Mushrikn of our times, some of whom claim to be Ahl'ul Ilm (people of knowledge), possessing Zuhd (asceticism) and Ijtihd (striving hard), and Ubbd (pl. of bid; worshipers) are in distress they begin to seek Istighthah (help) from other than Allh like al-Ma'rf or Abd'ul Qdir al-Gayln or those greater than them like, Zayd Ibn'ul Khattb Radiyallhu Anh and az-Zubayr Radiyallhu Anh  or those who are greater than them like Raslullh Sallallhu Alayhi wa Sallam, and Allh'ul Musta'n (help is sought from Allh). And more severe and disastrous than this is the fact that they seek help from at-Tawght (pl. of Tght); al-Kuffr (the disbelievers) and al-Murtad (the apostates) like Shamsn, Idrs (also called al-Ashqar), Ysuf and their likes. Wallhu A'lam (Allh knows best)!..

Praise be to Allh in the beginning and the end and may peace and blessing of Allh be upon the best of creation, Muhammad, his family and his Companions."

Shaykh'ul Islm Ibnu Taymiyyah (Rahimahullh) stated,

والعالم يعرف الجاهل؛ لأنه كان جاهلا، والجاهل لا يعرف العالم لأنه لم يكن عالما

"The lim (scholar) recognizes the Jhil (ignorant) since he was once a Jhil. The Jhil does not recognize the lim since he has never been an lim." (Shaykh'ul Islm Ibnu Taymiyyah, Majm'ul Fatw, 13/235)
